The shoe is on the other foot for Tarvaris Jackson. The former Vikings quarterback is used to being replaced – sometimes by Hall of Famers – but this time he’s the one doing the replacing. The Seattle Seahawks will reportedly trade Jackson to the Buffalo Bills, who have already dumped veteran QB and former “Dream Team” member Vince Young to clear the way for T-Jack. As a condition of the trade T-Jack will agree to a new contract, reducing his 2012 pay from $4 million to a maximum of $3 million if incentives are reached.

The Seahawks will get a late round pick for Tarvaris, who became the odd-man-out in Seattle after the acquisition of Matt Flynn and the emergence of rookie Russell Wilson.

For Vince Young, this has to be considered the cruelest of all insults. From college sensation and #3 overall draft pick to Guy Who Lost His Job to Tarvaris Jackson. I’d be very surprised if Young ever surfaces again on an NFL roster. For T-Jack…look we’re all Viking fans, so we all probably feel the same way about T-Jack. Nice guy. Nothing against him personally. But he sucks and we’re glad he’s gone. He’s now getting his SECOND chance to play since leaving the Vikings and frankly that’s shocking.

I guess it just goes to show how slim the pickings really are when it comes to NFL-quality quarterbacks. Tarvaris Jackson can be a #2 on a team with playoff aspirations. Dang.

So about the rumor that the Vikings are looking at bringing back Tarvaris Jackson. This appears to be a rumor with legs. As you remember, it started because of a Jason Cole tweet listing several teams as being “interested” in Jackson now that he’s clearly being shopped by Seattle. Cole says he has a good source on the story, which lists the Packers, Dolphins and Chargers as being “interested” in Jackson along with the Vikings. Most people who watch the Vikings think this is a totally insane idea but Cole is too legit to just overlook.

Eventually all this was going to get back to the Vikings via the media. On Wednesday it finally did. A reporter asked Rick Spielman about the rumor, and Spielman didn’t have a lot to say. Judd Zulgad tweeted, “Vikings GM Rick Spielman just told us the Vikings are fine at quarterback when asked if team was interested in Seattle QB Tarvaris Jackson.”

So there you…have it?

Well no, actually you do not have it. If what you’re looking for is an adamant denial of T-Jack interest. That door is still open a crack as far as I’m concerned. So this means I may continue milking the rumor without looking like I’m just milking a rumor. Hey, Spielman didn’t say absolutely, positively no way in this life or any other. He didn’t flip off the reporters and call them idiots. He didn’t refer to Tarvaris as a joke of a quarterback who doesn’t even belong in a rec league. So there.

But seriously though, there’s no way this happens. All due respect to Jason Cole. His source is messing with him or something. Has to be. Tarvaris?

Sometimes Twitter makes you just sit there with your jaw hanging to the floor. That happened a couple seconds ago when Jason Cole of Yahoo posted this:

Assuming Flynn/Wilson are healthy after Fri game, expect Tarvaris Jackson to be traded Sat. Many teams interested, inc Miami, GB, Minn, SD.

— Jason Cole (@JasonColeYahoo) August 20, 2012

Tarvaris Jackson back to the Vikings? All right, I know what a few of you are thinking. He’s not a bad #2 quarterback. In fact he’s probably more reliable at this point than either Joe Webb or Sage Rosenfels. Maybe. But think about this. If Christian Ponder gets hurt and Tarvaris Jackson is your #2 quarterback? That means Tarvaris Jackson becomes your starting quarterback.

Is that what we really want? T-Jack Redux? Didn’t we get enough the first time? Now, granted, it would be a totally different circumstance. Before T-Jack was in there trying to prove he could start, whereas under this preposterous scenario, he would be strictly a veteran 2 and not a long-term option. Again, maybe there’s an argument to be made for doing this. But forget about reason and logic and all that. Ask yourself this question:

Do you really want to see Tarvaris Jackson back in a Vikings uniform in any capacity?

I think we all know the right answer to that question. That answer is no no no, a thousand times no. With a heaping helping of no on top.
