Leslie Frazier said the Vikings are still looking for a receiver who can be a vertical threat. And he wasn’t lying. On Tuesday the Vikes had in one-time first round draft pick Ted Ginn, Jr. for a visit. Indeed, Ginn CAN be a vertical threat. When he actually plays at wide receiver which isn’t all that often. Mostly Ginn is a return man but he’s a good return man. Signing him would relieve from Leslie Frazier’s shoulders forever the burden of having to decide when and when not to use Percy Harvin on kickoffs. I’m sure that was keeping Leslie up nights.

No doubt about it, Ginn would be an upgrade for the Vikings on both their kickoff and punt return teams. No more Marcus Sherels inexplicably fielding punts on the seven. The question is whether Ginn would actually help you on offense. Certainly he has the speed to be a deep threat but, guy’s been in the league a few years and he’s never come close to living up to the promise he seemed to have coming out of Ohio State. Is he even a better option than Devin Aromashodu? If he is it’s only by a smidge.

I can already hear the angst-ridden Viking fans out there crying about this. Another cheap-o free agent move? Looks like it. If it cheers you guys up, we’re only a month away from the draft. They’ll get a good receiver then right?
