Viking Age Smackdown: Should the Vikings Sign Terrell Owens?

It was a year ago this week that Brad Childress coughed up a third round pick to the Patriots for Randy Moss. I don’t have to remind you how that turned out. A few weeks later Moss was cut, and not long after that Childress was himself fired.

Fast forward to 2011. The Vikings are 0-4 with three blown double-digit halftime leads on their resume. Their receiver corps is no better than it was last year when Chilly dealt for Moss, and Donovan McNabb isn’t playing much better than Brett Favre did in 2011. The Vikes are desperate for answers to their offensive woes…maybe desperate enough to take a flyer on another future Hall of Fame wide receiver who is in the twilight of his career.

Enter Terrell Owens. As we speak the former Pro Bowler is in Los Angeles rehabbing from knee surgery. It’s expected that TO will soon start working out for teams, and there’s speculation that the Vikings could bring him in for a look.

What would the Vikings be getting from TO at this point in his career? He’s 37 and, like I said, coming off knee surgery. Obviously he would not be the same player who used to light up the stat sheet on a weekly basis. Nor would he constitute the deep threat the Vikings have been searching in vain to find ever since Sidney Rice got hurt.

Rick Spielman Slams the Door on Terrell Owens Talk

There has been, as far as I know, very little scuttlebutt this off-season about Terrell Owens being pursued by the Vikings.

And if you were thinking of starting some kind of T.O.-to-Minnesota rumor…well, you can forget it. Because the Vikings categorically are not interested in the controversial wide receiver.

This news comes via no less a personage than Rick Spielman, who apparently discussed the matter with KSTP-TV (Minneapolis) sports director Joe Schmitt while they were playing golf.

And then Schmitt tweeted about it. So now we all know that the Vikings don’t want T.O.

Unless it’s all a smokescreen created via this elaborate plan involving Spielman, his golfing buddy and Twitter.

Mmm…no.

Interestingly, in the same tweet, Schmitt passed along the information that the Vikings are no longer in the running for the services of offensive lineman Chester Pitts, who had been scheduled to work out with the team at one point.

That was one informative tweet. Much better than mine, which are usually something like “That peanut tasted funny.”

Bernard Berrian Joins Chad Ochocinco and Terrell Owens on VH1 Reality Show

Bernard Berrian has gone Hollywood. If indeed you consider appearing with Chad Ochocinco and Terrell Owens on a VH1 reality show “going Hollywood.”

For the curious, here’s a little taste of “B Twice’s” reality TV debut.

No, the show is not called The Three Stooges – it’s called Ochocinco: The Ultimate Catch. It’s like The Bachelor…except with Ochocinco. Berrian and T.O. are apparently there to help Chad pick out his special lady from among the ~~shameless~~ attractive young female applicants.

Ochocinco obviously has no fear that doing another reality show so soon after Dancing With the Stars will cause him to become over-exposed.

And the really good news for him is, this time, he doesn’t have to worry about getting his ass kicked by a figure skater.
