For the second straight year an NFC team that barely squeaked into the playoffs has gone on to win the Super Bowl. The game was a snooze until the fourth quarter when it became a classic. Things got bizarre when, rather than let the Giants milk clock and kick a winning FG, the Patriots elected to let Ahmad Bradshaw walk into the endzone for a go-ahead TD. The weird thing was, Bradshaw actually tried not to score the TD, but his momentum carried him into the endzone. (more…)

Video of Christian Ponder Leading a Poorly-Attended Work Out

Nice try by Christian Ponder on attempting to get his team together for an off-season work out. I like the initiative. Unfortunately Christian isn’t Tom Brady. He can’t just call guys up and tell them to get their butts to work. Maybe Christian’s next work out, scheduled for a couple of weeks from now, will be better-attended.

For those who were wondering: No, Christian did not copy the playbook at Kinko’s. So we won’t have to worry about some unscrupulous Kinko’s employee leaking the plays. Well that’s a load off my mind.

Adrian Peterson Finishes Sixth in Pro Bowl Balloting, Doesn’t Practice

A mixed-bag of a day for Adrian Peterson today: He finished fifth in fan Pro Bowl balloting, and first among running backs. That’s the good. The bad is, he didn’t practice because the bruised thigh that kept him out of Monday night’s debacle is still too sore.

And how sore exactly is AD’s contused upper-leg? “Very, very sore,” said Leslie Frazier. Added the coach, “It makes it difficult to turn, twist and do the things that Adrian Peterson does.”

Obviously, if the Vikings are to have any chance of pulling off an upset against the Eagles this weekend, they will need Peterson on the field. Toby Gerhart is a decent workmanlike #2 back, but as we saw Monday night, he ain’t ripping off any big game-changing runs.

In case you’re curious, Peterson finished 5th in fan balloting behind Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Philip Rivers and Drew Brees. Aaron Rodgers finished sixth.

Update: Apparently there was a mistake in the original reporting on fan balloting, and Peterson actually finished sixth instead of fifth, with Michael Vick also ahead of him.
