Which Vikings players are next in line for a contract extension?
By Adam Patrick
Anthony Barr, LB:
Like Joseph, Barr’s current contract with the Vikings ends after the 2018 season. But an extension for the team’s 2014 first-round pick may depend on how he performs in 2017.
The linebacker proved his first-round value during his first two seasons in Minnesota. On numerous occasions, he was seen pounding opposing quarterbacks into the turf and finding different ways to create turnovers.
In 2016, Barr had a so-called “down year”, but his performance last season still earned him a trip to his second straight Pro Bowl. It does not seem too crazy to think that the linebacker can find his old form in 2017 and rightfully earn a new contract from the Vikings.
