Minnesota Vikings training camp battles: Kicking competition
By Josh Clarke
Candidate two : Marshall Koehn
Although he has never kicked in a regular season NFL game, Marshall Koehn (pronounced Cain) certainly has the leg strength to do so.

Despite his impressive leg power Koehn was undrafted out of Iowa in 2016 and failed to win the starting job with the Miami Dolphins last offseason due to his inaccuracy. Koehn only made 77.8 percent of his attempts while playing for the Hawkeyes, but he has been working relentlessly on improving on this aspect of his game.
"“I think I’ve become more a more consistent field goal kicker than I was in college. I think the flight of my ball is more clean instead of more of an ‘X-ball.’ Those are two things I’ve really tried to improve on.”"
Crucially, Koehn’s inaccuracy also extends to extra points, missing six in his final season at Iowa. The former Hawkeye has a lot of work to do in Mankato to win the title of the Vikings’ next kicker. But fortunately for him, one area he undoubtedly beats Forbath in is his kickoff power, as one may expect with that cannon.
