For the Vikings fans that were born in the 21st century, some may not know exactly who Biz Markie is and why it’s relevant that he roots for Minnesota. However, Markie is a rapper from New York known mostly for his song “Just a Friend” that has been a classic ever since it was released in 1989.

No one really knows how he became a Vikings fan. But in 2017, Markie posted a photo on Twitter of himself sporting a customized Minnesota jersey.

His jersey is also not the Vikings’ current design, so this would seem to indicate that the rapper did not just jump on the team’s bandwagon this year. For Minnesota fans who grew up loving hip-hop and rap in the 90s, they can smile even wider now every time they hear “Just a Friend”.
