The Veteran:

Kendall Wright

Wright hasn’t made the desired impact since Tennessee selected him with the 20th pick of the 2012 NFL Draft. But his signing makes enough sense for a Vikings team that showed Jarius Wright the door last spring.

Kendall Wright’s numbers aren’t inspiring, but he has the speed and route running skills to possibly fill the slot role for the Vikings (with Diggs and Thielen sprinkled in). ESPN’s Courtney Cronin detailed as such when discussing the signing back in March.

"“Wright was one of the NFL’s most productive slot receivers in 2017, running 290 of his 409 routes out of the slot, where he had 41 of his 59 receptions for 393 yards and a touchdown, according to ESPN Stats and Information. Those 59 catches led Chicago, as did his 614 receiving yards.”"

The addition of Wright adds another playmaker Minnesota’s offense and if that’s not the case, the one-year, $1 million investment in the receiver is a minimal one for his potential upside.
