2. Interceptions

Paul Krause (1968-1979)

Paul Krause is not only the Vikings’ all-time leader in interceptions with 53, he also the NFL leader with 81. A second-round draft choice of the Washington Redskins in 1964, Krause led the NFL as a rookie with 12 interceptions.

He joined the Vikings in 1968 and averaged just over four interceptions per season for 12 years. The active career leader in interceptions for Minnesota is Harrison Smith with a total of 20 over seven seasons.

Averaging three per season, it will take Smith another 11 seasons to catch Krause. Already 30-years-old, it seems highly unlikely Smith has any chance of even coming close to Krause’s mark. However, Smith does hold the record of four career interceptions returned for a touchdown for the Vikings.

1. Total Points

Fred Cox (1963-1977)

There is no way any Minnesota player will ever catch career scoring leader Fred Cox with 1,365 points. Playing 15 seasons with the Vikings, Cox finished with 282 field goals and 519 extra points. A classic straight-on style kicker, there is no way by today’s standards that his career would last half as long as he converted only 62 percent of this field goal attempts.

In his first season with the Vikings, Cox also punted the ball 70 times with an average of 38.7 yards per attempt. He led the NFL in made field goals in 1965, 1969 and 1970.
