Minnesota Vikings Best and Worst: Week 10 vs. Dallas Cowboys
By Adam Carlson
The worst thing
Last week, the Chiefs made the Vikings defense look ridiculous by owning Minnesota defensive backs using blistering speed and curl/comeback routes to get separation and make easy catches for solid yardage.
Once again, that was the case against the Vikings. The Cowboys made the purple and gold terrified to give up the deep plays and gave up a lot of plays that looked far too simple for Dak Prescott and his wide receivers, particularly on third down.
Before their struggles on third and fourth down in the fourth quarter, Dallas made it a regular activity to pick on second-year corner Mike Hughes, whose early coverage struggled and couldn’t cue in on what the offense was doing. However, Hughes picked up his act in this game and tightened his coverage.
Minnesota will definitely need to tighten up that defense when they take on more teams with explosive offenses. If not, the secondary could continue to be exposed just like they have the last two weeks.
