Trae Waynes – CB

Since he is currently scheduled to become a free agent in 2020, Trae Waynes returning to the Vikings next season is something that doesn’t seem very likely.

Not only will Waynes probably end up being too pricey for Minnesota to re-sign, it might just be time for the team and their No. 2 corner to go their separate ways after five years together.

After a solid campaign in 2018, Waynes hasn’t seen much progression in his game this season. He’s allowed four touchdowns, opposing quarterbacks have a 108.4 rating when throwing in his direction, and he’s given up the third-most receiving yards to his coverage in the NFL this year.

For someone like Waynes, who has been a starter in the league since 2017 and is still only 27-years-old, there are a number of teams around the NFL who will likely be interested in his services when he becomes a free agent during the upcoming offseason.

Unless he’s fine with getting paid less than the $9.069 million he’s making this year, a departure from the Vikings in 2020 seems pretty inevitable for Waynes.
