Trey Adams – OT (Washington)

The Vikings offensive line is better than it was in 2018. Except for a couple of notable games, they gave Kirk Cousins ample protection and opened up plenty of room for Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison in the running game.

One of the biggest weaknesses was at left tackle where it appears age is starting to catch up with Riley Reiff. The Vikings would love to find his eventual replacement in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Trey Adams was a guy who early in the 2019 college season, was considered a first-round talent. He’s got the size at 6-foot-8 and 314 pounds. His wingspan is plenty long and he is technically sound. Adams is very powerful and will fight until the whistle. He’s quick out of his stance and would fit in well in the zone blocking scheme of the Vikings.

The biggest knock on Adams is his overall durability. He’s missed a lot of time with injuries to his knee and back. Those will be major concerns for NFL teams. Minnesota will want to get a close look at this guy when they are at the Senior Bowl and see if it appears like he’s healthy and if he’s lost any movement skills due to his various maladies.

So while his overall talent and potential lands this guy solidly in the first round, his overall health, durability, and availability will push him down a couple of rounds. He could be a high-risk, high-reward pick in, say the third round, that could pan out very well for the Vikings if his injuries are behind him.
