Why the Vikings (probably) won’t be trading for Deshaun Watson

Watson doesn’t fit Minnesota’s offensive philosophy
This is something that will probably bother a bunch of Vikings fans, but a quarterback like Deshaun Watson isn’t needed for Minnesota to do what they want with their offense each week.
Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer has always emphasized the run during his tenure with the team and during the 2020 season, much of the offense’s success was due to the performance of running back Dalvin Cook.
Back in September, Minnesota gave Cook a lucrative extension that makes him the fifth-highest paid running back in the NFL right now in terms of average yearly salary.
With the investment they’ve already made in their top running back, why would the Vikings give up a bunch of assets to acquire a quarterback in Watson that probably wouldn’t have his passing skills utilized to the fullest in their offense?
It’s an unfortunate truth, but Zimmer has already stated multiple times how he wants Minnesota’s offense to function, and it’s not with the passing attack leading the way.
