Washington head coach Ron Rivera is no stranger to working with veteran tight ends. When Rivera was the head coach of the Carolina Panthers, tight end Greg Olsen was a staple in the team’s offense and he remained with the franchise until he was 34-years-old.

Entering his second season with Washington, Rivera could be looking to add a veteran tight end like Kyle Rudolph to his current team.

Logan Thomas emerged as a solid tight end for Washington in 2020 as he finished with 72 catches for 670 yards and six touchdowns. But after Thomas on the depth chart, the rest of Washington’s tight ends combined for just three receptions.

Rudolph is definitely someone who could provide Washington with a good second option at tight end in 2021. He would also add a ton of leadership to the team’s locker room, which is full of youth and inexperience.

In addition to all of this, Scott Turner is currently Washington’s offensive coordinator. Turner was the Vikings quarterbacks coach from 2014 to 2016, so he is very familiar with what Rudolph can add to Washington’s roster.

Could Washington end up being the team that is able to work out a deal with Minnesota to acquire their veteran tight end this year?
