Plenty left in the tank

Patrick Peterson will turn 31-years-old in July and he’s been in the NFL for 10 seasons. Despite this, Peterson is still expected to be one of the top players available in free agency this year.

With the Cardinals last season, he appeared in all 16 games, and he finished with 61 tackles, eight pass breakups, and three interceptions.

While his play isn’t at the level that it was when he earned three First-Team All-Pro selections in his first five seasons in the league, he still has plenty to offer to a team in 2021.

If Peterson needs proof that Minnesota would be a great place to go in order to help extend his career, he just needs to look at what Mike Zimmer was able to do with a 37-year-old Terence Newman in 2015.

With an aging Newman as one of their starting corners, the Vikings finished the 2015 season with the NFL’s 12th-ranked pass defense. Just as Zimmer was able to get the most out of Newman, there’s a very good chance he would be able to help Peterson get back to being one of the top cornerbacks in the league.
