Dazz Newsome – WR (North Carolina)

While the Vikings already have one of the NFL’s most prolific wide receiver tandems in Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen, they could use another dynamic presence to give quarterback Kirk Cousins a boost in 2021. Players at the position don’t normally come cheap in free agency, so it might be worth Minnesota looking at the latest batch of college prospects for a diamond in the rough.

Although this class of wideouts isn’t as deep as last year’s, there is still a plethora of talented individuals who look more than ready to make a name for themselves. Dazz Newsome is someone who fits into this category after starring at North Carolina and if he is available in the mid-rounds, the Vikings should not hesitate to pull the trigger.

Simply put, Newsome is an offensive coordinator’s dream.

He can line up on the outside, in the slot, or even take carries out of the backfield should the opportunity arise. There wouldn’t be that much pressure on the player doing that in Minnesota thanks to the presence of Davin Cook, but it’s still a nice option to have.

Newsome does his best work in the slot, which just so happens to be the area the Vikings need assistance. This pickup would kill two birds with one stone, so to speak, with the prospect also being a more than capable punt returner thanks to his exceptional elusiveness.
