Vikings Free Agency Rumors – Day 1
Minnesota possibly interested in former Packers offensive lineman
With the pool of free-agent offensive lineman quickly drying up, the Vikings could have their eyes on a veteran blocker who spent his last three years as a member of the Green Bay Packers.
According to KSTP’s Darren Wolfson on Monday, Minnesota is reportedly interested in adding former Packers offensive lineman Billy Turner this offseason.
Turner, a native of Shoreview, Minnesota, has the ability to line up as either a guard or a tackle, so he might be someone the Vikings look to bring in for next season to be a guy who can fill in for other linemen when they get injured.
Vikings didn’t have enough funds to sign Corbett
Even though they came up short on Monday when it came to signing a solid interior offensive lineman, Minnesota still tried to sign one of the better blockers available this year.
Former Los Angeles Rams guard Austin Corbett is a player that some thought could end up with the Vikings based on his past working relationship with new Minnesota head coach, Kevin O’Connell.
Unfortunately, the Vikings didn’t have enough funds to compete with the Panthers, who ultimately signed Corbet to a three-year contract worth almost $30 million.
