What the Vikings can expect from new LB Za’Darius Smith in 2022

What the Vikings should expect from Za’Darius Smith
The Minnesota Vikings needed to add some pass rush talent to their roster for 2022 and they did just that by signing Za’Darius Smith. Pairing him with Danielle Hunter is an absolute dream for a team looking to get to the quarterback on a regular basis.
If they can remain healthy, the team should expect quite a bit of organic pressure from these two individuals and make things easier on a secondary that will likely be comprised of young players that could use the help.
It can’t be stated enough that this will all rely on Smith staying healthy. He will be used all over the field to disrupt opposing teams as long as his back issues are resolved and he can return to his Pro Bowl form in Green Bay.
The pass rush for Minnesota should be very good. Hunter and Smith could both end up with double-digit sack numbers and open things up for guys like Eric Kendricks, Harrison Smith, and Jordan Hicks to blitz and get pressure.
Smith has said he wants to “meet at the quarterback” and honor the Purple People Eaters with the dominance of the defensive front in Minnesota. With the two pass rushers, Dalvin Tomlinson, and Harrison Phillips up front, they do have a chance to be something special…but they are setting the bar rather high with that comparison.
