What Minnesota Vikings news and rumors are the most intriguing following the team's unfortunate loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday?

There is plenty of Minnesota Vikings news and rumors to discuss after the team was handed their seventh loss of the 2023 season by the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday.

Some of the most interesting topics feature Vikings rookie wide receiver Jordan Addison, Minnesota pass rusher Danielle Hunter, and a pair of former Vikings quarterbacks.

Before we get too carried away though, let's get into all of the latest Vikings news right now.

Vikings rookie Jordan Addison ends his touchdown drought

After beginning his rookie campaign in Minnesota with seven touchdown catches in his first eight games this season, Vikings rookie wide receiver Jordan Addison headed into Saturday's matchup without making a trip to the end zone for more than a month (last score was in Week 8).

Addison certainly made up for his previous absences on Saturday, though, as the rookie finished the matchup against the Bengals with six catches for 111 yards and two touchdowns.

It was his second game of the 2023 campaign with multiple touchdown catches, and after his performance on Saturday, he now leads all NFL rookie wide receivers this season with nine trips to the end zone.

Former Vikings draft pick Teddy Bridgewater will reportedly retire in 2024

Following his devastating knee injury as a member of the Vikings in 2016, some didn't believe Teddy Bridgewater would ever play professional football again.

But here we are in the middle of the 2023 season, and Bridgewater is still active in the NFL as a backup quarterback for the Detroit Lions. However, this year will reportedly be his last in the league.

According to the Detroit Free Press's Dave Birkett, Bridgewater plans to retire from the NFL after the 2023 season and pursue a career as a high school football coach.

If this is truly the final year in the league for the former Minnesota first-round pick, it's fitting that he will be going out on his terms. Many counted him out after his knee injury in 2016, and instead of listening to the doubters, he fought his way back and proved a lot of people wrong when he returned to an NFL field in 2017.

Obviously, his career didn't turn out the way some had thought it would when the Vikings traded back into the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft to select him. But the fact that he has been able to continue making a living in the league for as long as he has after his 2016 injury is a major accomplishment in itself.

Danielle Hunter cashes in and passes Vikings legend on Saturday

Unfortunately, the Vikings were unable to defeat the Bengals on Saturday, but the result of the matchup certainly wasn't due to the performance of Minnesota pass rusher Danielle Hunter.

Hunter had a monster day in Cincinnati, as he accumulated five tackles (three for a loss), two sacks, and two QB hits. The Vikings' pass rusher now has 15.5 sacks this season, which is currently the second-most in the NFL, behind only T.J. Watt of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

With the two sacks Hunter added to his 2023 total on Saturday, he also moved past former Minnesota defensive end Jared Allen for sixth on the franchise's list for career sacks. Now, only five players have been able to generate more sacks in a Vikings uniform than Hunter.

And to make the loss to the Bengals a little easier to swallow, since Hunter was able to accumulate more than 14 sacks this season, he activated a $3 million incentive bonus in his contract.

Minnesota's veteran pass rusher has clearly excelled in the team's new defensive scheme this year, and with three games still left on the team's regular-season schedule, it will be fun to see how many more Vikings records he could potentially break.

Former Vikings QB Case Keenum to start for Houston Texans on Sunday

With rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud unable to start due to a concussion, the Houston Texans will turn to former Vikings signal-caller Case Keenum as their starter in their Week 15 matchup against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

For Keenum, it will be his first NFL start since Week 18 of the 2021 season when he was a member of the Cleveland Browns.

With a 7-6 record entering Week 15, the Texans will be relying on the former Minnesota quarterback to keep their playoff hopes alive when they take on the Titans.

Houston is currently the No. 8 seed in the AFC playoff picture, and they are also just one game behind the Jacksonville Jaguars for the top spot in the AFC South.

Keenum, of course, helped lead the Vikings to one of their most successful seasons in the recent past, back in 2017. Thanks in part to his play on the field, Minnesota won 13 games during the 2017 season and made it all the way to the NFC Championship.

Since that magical year, Keenum has had stints around the NFL with the Texans, Browns, Buffalo Bills, Washington Commanders, and Denver Broncos.
