Vikings Finalize Practice Squad; Tori Gurley, Chris Summers Added

facebooktwitterreddit

The Vikings kept us in suspense about the practice squad for a couple of days while they scoured every nook and cranny looking for players who might actually help them at some point down the road. In the end the Vikes found two guys who were let go by other teams and added six players who were on the preseason roster. So, without further ado, I give you the full Vikings practice squad:

DE – Ernest Owusu

OL – Kevin Murphy

WR – Tori Gurley

WR – Chris Summers

DT – Chase Baker

CB – Bobby Felder

OL – Tyler Holmes

RB – Jordan Todman

We all know the Gurley story by now. The Vikings gave him a chance to join the roster last year but he elected to remain with the Packers practice squad apparently thinking Donald Driver was set to retire. This earned him a fair amount of derision from Viking fans but I’m sure they’ll embrace him now. Summers was with the Bears this preseason and was tried out by the Vikes a few days ago. Manny Arceneaux was actually invited to the practice squad by the Vikes but elected to move to Washington instead.

Some intriguing skill position talent on that list, with Gurley, Summers and Todman. Wouldn’t surprise me to see a couple of those guys on the big squad before too long. And with that little bit of roster-related business cleaned up, we can now proceed to the regular season. It’s game week people. Did you hear me? GAME WEEK.
