Fansided has conducted its first mock draft. Full disclosure: I had nothing to do with compiling this mock draft. My advice was not asked as to team needs etc., So this selection has nothing to do with me. If you want to complain, go to Fansided.com and yell at them. I don’t even like mock drafts. Early mock drafts are even stupider. That’s just my opinion. Anyway, here’s what they have playing out for the Vikings. They’ve got the Vikes picking 20th. And they have the Vikings taking a defensive end out of LSU named Sam Montgomery. Okay.

The mock draft writer says, “At this point, Montgomery would clearly be the best player available. Due to depth at his position, he falls a bit in the draft but he has the talent of a top 15 player. Montgomery is a great pass rusher that never gives up.” So it’s the old value pick argument. I personally think there is zero shot the Vikes take a defensive end in the first round regardless of his talent. Yeah they could use more depth on the defensive line but tackle is where the real issues lie. And of course they have other glaring needs. Receiver. Linebacker. Safety. Offensive guard. We could go on all day. Not seeing defensive end in the first round. But it’s not my mock.

And now, back to relevant posting.
