Here’s the press release the Vikings put out to announce their big jack-up-the-fans effort this Sunday:

"Heading into Sunday’s final regular season game, Minneapolis leaders are throwing their support behind the Vikings playoff push. The Minneapolis Downtown Council, Hennepin County and MnDOT will join the team’s “Purple Friday” initiative, lighting the Target HQ Tower, the Lowry Avenue Bridge and the 35W Bridge purple beginning at sunset tonight. Minneapolis will continue its purple theme throughout the weekend by lighting the structures again both Saturday and Sunday nights.“The support for our Minnesota teams is always there, but we thought this was a special opportunity to get behind the Vikings given the ‘win and we’re in’ situation on Sunday,” said Minneapolis Downtown Council President Mark Stenglein. “We want to help rally our community for a win over Green Bay.”The effort aligns with the Vikings weekly “Purple Friday” theme, in which the team encourages fans to wear purple leading up to each weekend’s game. This week the Vikings added a unique “Wear and Win” twist to the Purple Friday theme; participating fans can submit images via Twitter, using #PurpleFriday for a chance to win prizes, including tickets for Sunday’s Vikings-Packers game which has been sold out for weeks. The Vikings will announce the three winners via Twitter Friday at 5:00 p.m. CT.To cap off the exciting weekend for Vikings fans, the team will also place “rally towels” (image attached) on every seat in Mall of America Field for Sunday’s game. The Vikings have not distributed towels since the Vikings-Cowboys playoff game in January 2010.“I’ve always maintained that we have the best fans in the NFL,” said Vikings Head CoachLeslie Frazier. “Our players feed off of our fans, and the noise level and energy at Mall of America Field provides one of the best home field advantages in the league. We are looking forward to having that same support from Vikings fans this Sunday.”"

Rally towels also come in handy for wiping up puke and blood after drunken brawls. Just kidding. Always drink responsibly, fans. This message brought to you by Chad Greenway.
