On last week’s Thursday Night Football, Brandon Jacobs provided a huge spark for the run game of the New York Giants.  He accumulated 106 yards on 22 carries that day, but has since suffered a hamstring injury and is listed as questionable for the game on Monday night.

Unfortunately for the Giants, Jacobs was unable to practice on Saturday because of the injury.  The fact that he had to sit out indicates that there was a setback that could keep him out of the game.  As a precaution, the team signed former Madden cover athlete Peyton Hillis.

The Giants haven’t had much luck with running backs this season.  Here is a list of the running backs that the Giants have been without this year.

  • David Wilson – Neck Injury
  • Andre Brown – Broken Leg
  • Da’Rel Scott – Hamstring
  • Henry Hynoski – Shoulder

Without a solid running threat, opponents of the New York Giants have been able to play against the pass more than the run.  This, along with some questionable play at quarterback, has resulted in Eli Manning leading the NFL in interceptions.  If Jacobs is unable to go on Monday, look for the Vikings to key in on the Giants passing game as well.
