If the Everson Griffen signing didn’t convince you that Jared Allen’s tenure in Minnesota has come to an end, Sunday’s report from Jason La Canfora should seal the deal.

La Canfora says Allen has narrowed his list of free agent landing spots down to less than five, and the Vikings are not on the list.

Get out your hankies, Jared Allen is virtually a former Viking.

Not that we weren’t already convinced this was inevitable. I think we’ve all known for a long while that 2013 was Jared’s swan song in purple.

All good things must come to an end. And sometimes good things fizzle out toward the conclusion, leaving you not nearly as choked up as you thought you would be.

As for that Jared Allen Free Agent Landing List that’s now been pared down to less than five but presumably more than zero?

No clue what teams are on there, but just gathering together all the speculation that’s been dropped in recent weeks, probably Denver and Tampa are two of the places.

Maybe Seattle.

Jared wants to go someplace where he can chase a ring, he’s made that pretty clear. So that eliminates places like Oakland, you’d have to assume.

And it also eliminates the Vikings, who probably weren’t willing to pay Jared market value anyway, given Rick Spielman’s policy against overpaying for older players (unless they are named Greg Jennings).

Thanks for the memories Jared, and good luck in your quest to get a ring.
