If you’ve been on Facebook or Twitter today, you’ve probably seen quite a few memes and posts about how we are just 100 days removed from the start of the 2014 NFL regular season.  While that may be true, Vikings fans have to wait a little longer than that.

The game that will take place 100 days from now is a rematch of what some folks call the “Fail Mary” game in which the world champion Seattle Seahawks will play against the Green Bay Packers.  This game is scheduled to be televised Thursday, September 4th on NBC at 7:30 pm Central Time.

While Vikings fans will be excited for the start of the 2014 NFL regular season, that’s not the date they are looking forward to.

Instead, fans in Minnesota will be looking forward to the game on Sunday, September 7th at noon central time.  For this game, the Vikings will be traveling to St. Louis to take on the Rams in their season opener.

For some Vikings fans, they may be waiting for the game on Sunday, September 14th at noon against the New England Patriots. This will mark the Vikings home opener and is usually when Vikings fans go the craziest.  With the new stadium being built, Minnesota will play at “The Gopher Hole” at TCF Bank Stadium.  But that shouldn’t make the tailgating and partying any less crazy.

So, while the rest of the NFL celebrates 100 days until the 2014 NFL regular season kickoff, Vikings fans are looking at 103 or 110 days until they get to see their team in action on television or live in person.
