Christian Ponder & Family Give Shopping Spree To Devastated Family

While many fans aren’t very keen on Christian Ponder‘s play on the football field these days, his kind heart and wonderful family are two things that fans can’t deny.

A recent article by WCCO Minneapolis documented the kindness of the Ponder family when they came across the Robbins family at a local mall.  The Robbins family was recently devastated by the tragic death of their mother, Maggie, in a car accident earlier this month.  Maggie’s husband Justin was left in a terrible situation.  Maggie had been working two jobs and was still a great mother according to her two daughters.

In an effort to cheer up the 8 and 9 year old girls, Justin brought his daughters to Maggie’s favorite store, Lululemon, to pick out a couple nice headbands.  However, what they got there was much more than just a headband.  9 year old Brianna recognized Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder in the store and got a picture with the Ponder family.  Also they were told the story of what happened to the family’s mother.

While Justin was uploading the photo to his Facebook account, the Ponder family was busy talking to the store manager.  After a little time passed, the manager of the store came up to Justin Robbins and told them that they could pick out some clothes at no cost.  Justin badgered the manager for a while, and finally drew out the information that it was the Christian Ponder and his family that wanted to do a nice deed for the family.

Here is what Justin Robbins said to WCCO Minneapolis in a recent article:

"“We really, really want to thank the Ponders and what a great man. Samantha is a great person and Christian is a great man. It was a great day, it really helped us out. We really appreciate the Ponders for doing that for us.”"

A nice deed like this is exactly what makes Christian Ponder a class act.  The fact that he didn’t want to use this deed as a publicity stunt says even more for the kind of people the Ponders are.  Bravo to Christian Ponder and his family.

Also, The Viking Age would like to send our condolences to the Robbins family and wish them the best of luck in everything their future may hold.
