More from Vikings Rumors

Larry Fitzgerald reportedly is unhappy with his role in Arizona and is unlikely to restructure his contract in order to stay with the Cardinals?

Hmm…

Craig Morgan of Fox Sports reports that Fitzgerald doesn’t enjoy playing second fiddle to Michael Floyd in Arizona and would prefer to play elsewhere next season?

Hmm…

Fitzgerald was asked about the situation and declined to say much (via Fox Sports):

"“It has not crossed my mind,” Fitzgerald said Wednesday after the Cardinals practice. “I’m in the midst of an opportunity that doesn’t come too often, so all my energy and everything is focused on helping my team win.”"

Hmm…

Fitzgerald’s bonus situation will press both sides to make a call on the receiver’s future within the next couple of months:

"A decision likely would have to be made by March, when Fitzgerald is due an $8 million roster bonus. But [Arizona GM Steve] Keim’s stance was clever in that it put the onus on Fitzgerald to take less money so that he doesn’t hamstring the team this offseason in its efforts to acquire more free agents and improve the roster."

Arizona’s quarterback situation would likely influence Fitzgerald’s decision as much as the money issue.

It just so happens that I know a team with a very good young QB that might be in the market for a veteran receiver this offseason.

It just so happens that Fitzgerald has ties to this team.

It’s also true that Fitzgerald will be 32 by the time next season begins. It’s true that his production has declined markedly over the last couple years.

Nevertheless…
