Laquon Treadwell has plenty of fight in him, as he showed Jabari Price in Monday afternoon’s practice.

Is it a good thing when teammates fight in training camp? This is an eternal debate it seems.

Some say camp fights are fake-tough-guy stuff and nothing more, while others insist that it’s good for the team when guys get chippy and start throwing punches.

So Monday afternoon when rookie Laquon Treadwell got into it with Jabari Price, was that just two guys puffing up their chests in ridiculous fashion or was it a sign that the Vikings have plenty of fight?

I don’t know the answer. I just think it’s entertaining when football players fight. And it’s even better when they are teammates.

According to witnesses, several punches were thrown by both combatants before they went to the ground and continued wrestling.

Video shows Treadwell and Price giving each other the business on the ground while teammates try to break it up.

This looks like a classic case of a relative veteran in Price testing a rookie. A similar thing happened in Harrison Smith’s rookie year when Percy Harvin decided to take him on in camp. As you would expect, Smith did not back down from Harvin. And Treadwell clearly did not back down from Price.

Treadwell seems to be taking a lot of stuff from his teammates so far, some of it good-natured. Is this a sign that Treadwell needs to maybe adjust his attitude a little?

Next: Peterson already breaking down?

Frankly Treadwell does seem a little bit full of himself. It wouldn’t surprise me if there was a bit of big-head-puncturing hazing going on.

Treadwell seems like a tough enough guy that he can take it. And that’s good news. If he’s got fight on the practice field, should have fight in games. And that’s what the Vikings need: a wide receiver with a mean streak who is willing to mix it up.

Last year the Vikings suffered because some of their featured receivers were reluctant to scrap. It seems that won’t be an issue with Laquon Treadwell.
