Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater had surgery to repair his knee and head coach Mike Zimmer says that ‘everything was good’ with the procedure.

Fans of the Minnesota Vikings don’t need a reminder that Teddy Bridgewater suffered a horrendous injury to his left knee that included a torn ACL, knee dislocation, and other damage. Thankfully, action has already been taken to get his knee right again.

According to an article on the ESPN website, Bridgewater underwent surgery to repair his knee on Thursday, September 8, 2016, which is the same day that the 2016 NFL regular season kicks off.

Some good news came in from head coach Mike Zimmer regarding the surgery. During a talk with medical personnel, he got a thumbs up and some assurance that everything went well.

"“I got a call from the doctor today, and everything was good,” Zimmer said. “They said it’s a good repair; I don’t know exactly what he said. He gave me a quick rundown.”"

Of course, massive knee injuries aren’t new to the Vikings when it comes to their star players. Adrian Peterson had a torn ACL and returned the next year to lead the NFL in rushing as if he had never left or gotten hurt in the first place.

The TwinCities.com Pioneer Press spoke with Peterson about his conversations with Bridgewater after the injury.

"“I’ve talked to him several times about what to expect and how to kind of view things when you’re going through this situation recovering,” Peterson said. “Just mentally having your mind set on the things you want to accomplish and continuing to push yourself and believe in yourself. You’re going to have down days. There’s going to be times when you don’t want to do anything. You have to get up and do something. Just encouraging him not to lose faith. Stay prayed up. That helped me out a lot.”"

Now comes the hard part for Teddy Bridgewater. He will have to watch on the sidelines as his team fights each and every week. He will also have to shift his focus to healing and rehabilitation. Hopefully, Bridgewater makes a full recovery and can return to the Minnesota Vikings as soon as possible.
