The wide receiver has decided to sign with the Tennessee Titans rather than join the Minnesota Vikings and catch passes once again in his home state.

Following the New York Jets’ decision to release wide receiver Eric Decker recently, a bit of a buzz began to generate amongst fans of the Minnesota Vikings about the possibilities of him signing with their team (especially after the recent Michael Floyd news). After all, Decker grew up a short drive away from U.S. Bank Stadium and played college football at the University of Minnesota.

But unfortunately for some fans, the wide receiver will not be joining the Vikings anytime soon as he has opted to sign a deal on Sunday with the Tennessee Titans.

It is not too surprising that Decker will playing for the Titans this season since he and his wife already own a home in Nashville, Tennessee. And since Nashville is the unofficial country music capital of the world, it probably did not take much for Decker to convince his country-signing wife that he should sign with the Titans.

As for those who were hoping to see the receiver come back home to Minnesota, it is probably for the best that he is not joining the Vikings. Minnesota made an investment Laquon Treadwell after drafting him in the first round last year and his development would have like slowed if the Vikings were able to land Decker.

But with Decker signing in Tennessee and the current status of Floyd’s spot on the 2017 roster in jeopardy, Treadwell should get plenty of opportunities this season to prove to Minnesota why he was deserving of their first-round selection in 2016.
