Vikings draft 2017: Standouts from day one of the NFL Combine
By Jordan Reid
A quiet buzz surrounded former Temple offensive lineman Dion Dawkins. The biggest debate about Dawkins is whether he is a tackle or a guard. Validating the opinion that he can be either, Dawkins left Indianapolis as one of the combine’s biggest risers.
He made himself a lot of money after his performance on the biggest scouting stage. In the on-the-field drills, Dawkins showed fluid hips, and solid footwork.
Where he shined the most was in the “mirror drill” where lineman are asked to mirror the movements of another prospect that is running back-and-forth horizontally in front of them.
Dawkins stood out in this drill. He effortlessly showed a good base, followed by solid movements. Look for Dawkins’ stock to rise into the second or third round as we get closer to April.
