Once again, the veterans seem to have the advantage over the rookies on the depth chart. Still, competition should continue to be fierce for both the punting and kicking gigs for the Minnesota Vikings this season.

Last season, Forbath was impressive 15 for 15 on field goal attempts, even connecting on a 51 yard attempt despite questions about his kick power. Extra points weren’t as automatic for the veteran, as he missed 3 of his 14 tries. The door will be open for Koehn to unseat him, but for now it is Kai’s job to lose.

On the other hand, Kevin McDermott should be feeling great this season as he enters the preseason with no competition for his job and should be considered a lock for the team’s final roster.
