The bad things from preseason Week 1
Mike Remmers struggling. The right tackle didn’t look great in this game, as he was taken advantage of by a rookie pass rusher on the first drive of the game, resulting in a sack. He did have some positive plays where he was 1-on-1 with the same defender and held his own, but sadly this negative play will be remembered much more.
Vikings giving up too much. For a team that put so much focus on locking down their top defenders, the defense was far too generous for the Bills. They allowed several big plays and first downs that should have been stopped before they even started. The positive thing is that there is still time to make adjustments.
Inconsistencies. One minute, a player will look great, next time, they struggle to make a great impression. This is the frustration of watching guys like Taylor Symmank or Mike Remmers during this game, who need to prove themselves for different reasons.
Rodney Adams on returns. At one time, I though Adams was a lock to make the roster based on his return ability alone. A questionable decision leading to a muff and underwhelming returns move him back onto the bubble.
Injuries. A scary shoulder injury to cornerback Trae Waynes has many fans holding their breath. Meanwhile running back Bishop Sankey left the game as well with a knee ailment. Injuries in the preseason are frustrating, and hopefully both of them make a full and speedy recovery.
