Adam Patrick:

Vikings win 22-6

Earlier this week, I thought this weekend’s matchup could end up being a closely fought battle. However, upon closer examination, the Saints and their bandwagon are in for a rude awakening on Sunday.

New Orleans is no longer the team from the middle of the year that struck fear into many around the NFL. The Saints lost two of their final four games of the season (including one to the lowly Tampa Bay Buccaneers) and they barely escaped their first-round playoff matchup against the Carolina Panthers with a win last week.

The talking point for many who believe New Orleans will win this weekend has been that the Saints are a much different team than the one the Vikings faced in Week 1.

Those choosing to go with this narrative are actually correct, but it’s not for the reason they think. New Orleans will be taking the field on Sunday in Minnesota with eight different starters than when these two teams met during the first week of the season.

As for the Vikings, all 11 of their Week 1 defensive starters will be playing this weekend against New Orleans. There really is nothing more that needs to be said about this matchup from this point on.
