Sheldon Richardson gets himself a sack
After he was named the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2013, Richardson’s career in the league appeared to headed in the right direction. However, the defensive tackle is now with his third team in the last three years and his production on the field is not what it used to be during the early part of his NFL career.
That should change in 2018 though. Richardson is the Vikings’ newest member of their elite defense and the high level of play around him should only bring out the best in the defensive tackle this season.
As for Friday’s preseason game against the Seahawks, Richardson will be out to prove to his old team that they should not have let him go and find a new home this offseason.
The Minnesota defensive tackle will have the advantage on Friday of knowing the tendencies of Seattle’s offensive line probably better than any current member of the Vikings’ defense. Since Richardson practiced against a bunch of the Seahawks’ blockers last year, he should be able to find a way to bring a quarterback or two down to the ground on Friday.
It is still only a preseason game, but don’t think for one second that Richardson won’t be trying to make plays against his old team.
