4. Alexander’s sack in overtime
After Daniel Carlson missed his first field goal attempt in overtime on Sunday, the Packers’ offense got the ball on their own 39-yard line and didn’t have too far to travel before they were close enough to give their own kicker a shot at bringing home a win.
But the Vikings’ defense had other plans.
Green Bay managed to get down to the Minnesota 40-yard line and they were facing a crucial 3rd and 4. Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers took the snap and quickly realized the Vikings were bringing the blitz.
Minnesota rushed five defenders toward Rodgers and Vikings corner Mackensie Alexander was able to zip right up the middle and wrap up the Green Bay quarterback for the sack. Alexander’s sack resulted in a seven-yard loss for the Packers, who then had to punt to Minnesota because they were no longer in field goal range.
The Vikings’ offense was then able to drive 63-yards the other way so that Carlson could miss another kick in overtime as the game-clock expired.
