Chris Thompson – RB (Washington Redskins)

During his time as a member of the Redskins, one of Kirk Cousins’ favorite targets out on the field was Thompson. Now with the Vikings, Cousins probably wouldn’t mind to see Minnesota try and acquire one of his old friends this offseason.

Since entering the NFL in 2013, Thompson has developed into one of the league’s top pass-catching running backs. His 129 receptions during the last three seasons are the seventh-most among NFC running backs and this is with him being a starter for just one game.

With the Vikings likely looking for a veteran to replace Latavius Murray in the backfield this year, trading for Thompson could be something they consider doing.

His contract expires in 2020 and his current deal only carries a cap hit of $3.9 million next season. It probably wouldn’t take too much for Minnesota to acquire his services from Washington either.

If the Vikings are looking for ways to make life easier for Cousins in 2019, trading for Thompson may be one option to look into.
