What should the Vikings do?

This is such a complicated topic to dive into because fans have to believe that Mike Zimmer wants Anthony Barr back in the Minnesota Vikings defense. That may not be possible because of the financial situation the team is in.

The entire situation hinges on what value the team has on Barr. If they believe he’s worth $14 million, they could likely work out a deal to keep him in Minnesota with a front-loaded contract but more guaranteed money.

Avoiding the tag would be the best option, but right now that seems like too high of a price to put on Barr considering the team’s finances. If they can’t work out a team-friendly deal, odds are that the linebacker will hit free agency and possibly go to the highest bidder or the team he and his agency see as the best fit.

All Minnesota can really do is put together the best offer they can for Anthony Barr and put that contract on the table. Hopefully, they can negotiate something that works for both sides, but that’s seeming unlikely.

While it would stink to say goodbye to Anthony Barr in a Vikings uniform, Minnesota has seen some good things from Eric Wilson which might make them think he’s ready for a bigger role. However, it would be tough to compare him to Barr considering the athleticism and experience he brings to the game.
