Latavius Murray – RB

Murray was a free-agent signing by the Vikings in 2017. He is a grinder-type of back who definitely has a nose for the end zone as he racked up a total of 1,420 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns in the last two seasons with Minnesota.

What’s even more impressive is that Murray has put up those numbers while being part of a committee in the Vikings’ offensive backfield for the most part.

He has stated that he wants to be a feature back again and that has led many to believe that he will look for a new team in 2019. Murray might do just that, but he may find that his market value in free agency is weaker than he thought this offseason.

He is almost 30-years-old and that is around the age when many running backs start to decline.  It’s hard to see a team dishing out starter money to Murray when he’s going to hit that dreaded age shortly after the 2019 season finishes.

Truth is that the veteran running back may not find a contract elsewhere that is better than what the Vikings could offer him. It would be nice for Minnesota to have Murray back for 2019 as he’s proven to be a solid player and he has produced when called upon.

Murray is a nice change of pace to combine with Dalvin Cook and he has also been a great member of the Vikings off the field doing good work in the community. While Murray may want to be a starter in 2019, truth is, he’s just better off being part of a committee.

Hopefully, that committee he’s a part of next season plays their home games in U.S. Bank Stadium.
