Draft Options
Devine Ozigbo (Nebraska)
The Vikings have already met with Ozigbo during the offseason and he’s expected to be one of the team’s Top 30 prospect invites this year.
As a senior at Nebraska in 2018, the young 6-foot, 235-pound running back had himself a breakout season. In 12 games, Ozigbo rushed for 1,082 yards (7.0 per carry) and 12 touchdowns while also catching 23 passes for 203 yards.
He doesn’t have a ton of hype surrounding him heading into the draft, so Minnesota might be able to snag him with one of their later-round selections.
Mike Weber (Ohio State)
During his junior campaign at Ohio State in 2018, Weber’s numbers saw a bit of a dip. After scoring a total of 19 touchdowns in 2016 and 2017, he was only able to find the end zone five times last year.
However, Weber had a strong showing at the recent NFL Scouting Combine and that should help improve his draft stock. He’s projected to come off the board as high as the second round this year, so the Vikings just have to decide if they’re willing to use that high of a draft selection on a running back or not.
Bennie Snell Jr. (Kentucky)
Snell has been one of the most productive running backs in all of college football over the last three years. Playing in the SEC at Kentucky, he rushed for an impressive 3,873 yards (5.3 per carry) and 48 touchdowns.
His big workload in college (737 total carries in three seasons) may be something that prevents teams from using a high draft pick on him this year though. Still, At 5-foot-10, 224 pounds, Snell consistently demonstrated his knack for making plays during his time at Kentucky.
He’s projected by most to be taken during the middle of this year’s draft and that could be right around the time when Minnesota is willing to use a pick on a running back.
