Round 3: Daniel Wise, DT – Kansas

Like the offensive line, there is a significant amount of talent when it comes to the defensive tackle class in the 2019 NFL Draft. Despite waiting until the third round, there are still players who will be available who are higher round talent than where they will be selected.

Considering the Minnesota Vikings lost Sheldon Richardson but were able to bring back Shamar Stephen, a little more depth could be used at the position. That is where the six-foot-three and 281 pound Kansas defender Daniel Wise comes in since he had double-digit tackles for a loss his last two years at Kansas and has accumulated 17 sacks in his four seasons.

A finesse player with a relentless pass rush, Wise does need to put on a little weight so he can be more of an anchor and help his balance, but the team’s staff should be able to get him on the right path and having some time behind Stephen could be massively beneficial.

Wise looked like one of the best defenders at the Shrine Game this year and that will help his stock, but he will fall based on the positional talent. That’s why the Minnesota Vikings should be waiting with open arms.
