1995: Korey Stringer, offensive tackle – Round 1 (pick 24 overall)

After taking Todd Steussie in the first round of the 1994 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings doubled down on their offensive line by selecting Korey Stringer to be the other bookend for the team’s blockers.

Much like Steussie, Stringer was immediately plugged into the starting lineup as a rookie and held onto the job at right tackle for six seasons, playing in 91 games and starting every single one of those contests.

Of course, the tragic story of Korey Stringer’s passing needs to be addressed. The big man suffered heat stroke at training camp in Mankato, Minnesota and later passed away from complications on Aug. 1, 2001.

Had his life not been cut short in the prime of career, there is no telling as to just how great Korey Stringer could have been. However, the impact he made while he was wearing purple and gold makes him one of the best draft picks of the 90s.

Honorable mention: Corey Fuller, CB – Florida St. (Round 2)
