5 questions heading into the Vikings’ 2019 training camp
By Chris Schad
Who will be the Vikings’ punt returner?
After the way that Minnesota kickers have performed over the past couple of years, one would guess that the special teams battle in camp would be at that position. Instead, it appears that the battle will belong to who will be the Vikings punt returner in 2019 after the departure of Marcus Sherels.
Much like the fourth safety battle, there are many possibilities, but nobody really knows who has the leg up coming in. In an earlier piece on The Viking Age, we took a look at the prospects of Chad Beebe and Jeff Badet, but there could be another dark horse on the team that could step up and take the position.
With none of the candidates having experience (and explosive college returner Mike Hughes recovering from a torn ACL), nobody will know anything here until the opening weeks of camp. Until then, it will be interesting who receives the first reps and who emerges as the top option.
