Vikings Training Camp 2019: Top 4 takeaways from Day 5

Rhodes returning to form
It’s no secret that Xavier Rhodes didn’t have the best performance of his career last season. It was a year hampered by lingering injuries and it resulted in Rhodes not playing at the high level many know he is capable of.
Mike Zimmer certainly wasn’t shy this offseason about commenting on the performance of his top corner in 2018. During the NFL’s owners meetings in March, Zimmer did beat around any bushes and he said Rhodes, “needs to play better,” in 2019 and, “play up to (his) contract.”
On Wednesday, the Minnesota head coach was asked about his talented cornerback and it sounds like he’s pretty satisfied with what he’s witnessed out on the field so far. Zimmer even used the phrase, “really happy,” to describe his feelings about Rhodes’ performance in camp this year.
It seems like the Vikings’ top corner is getting back on track to being one of the best at his position in the NFL and for the rest of the league, that should be pretty frightening.
