Aldrick Rosas – K

The Vikings kicking game is still very shaky at this point in the season. The Vikings can’t trust Dan Bailey as far as I can throw a bull moose by the horns, and basically any of the other 31 kickers in the NFL would be an upgrade.

Now a naysayer can look at the stats and say Aldrick Rosas is also a 75 percent kicker this season just like Bailey and not see the upgrade. But one has to look a year in the past and see how good Rosas really is. Aldrick Rosas hit 97 percent of his field goals in 2018. He was 32-of-33 and his long came from 57 yards out. That kind of consistency and reliability has been lacking from the Vikings kicking game for years.

Another positive about Rosas is that he’s used to kicking in the elements. MetLife Stadium is known for its swirling winds, and the weather gets downright nasty in late November to the end of the season. Rosas has been reliable in some nasty conditions and that is huge as the season wears on and the Vikings could be playing on the road in inclement weather.

Dan Bailey missed a field goal and a long extra point against the Packers. Those missed points proved to be costly. If the Vikings are going to compete for a playoff spot, they need improvement at kicker, and Rosas would be a big upgrade.
