The best thing

Much of the media was calling this game a battle of two of the best running backs in the NFL. For the Cowboys, they have the established powerhouse that is Ezekiel Elliott. Meanwhile, the Vikings are finding a lot of success with breakout back Dalvin Cook.

One look in the stat book of this game makes it easy to figure out who got the better of their opponent in this game. Just take a look at how polarizing the statistics are for the two premier running backs:

  • Cook: 33 touches for 183 yards and one touchdown (5.55 YPT)
  • Elliott: 22 touches for 63 yards (2.86 YPT)

These results aren’t even close. Dalvin Cook turned out to be a massive difference-maker in this game, especially when grinding out yardage late in the game to charge down the field in the third quarter and score the go-ahead touchdown.

At one point, Cook broke 100 yards in this game, but he lost a few and ended the game with 97 rushing yards on 26 attempts. He did the most damage as a receiver, catching all seven passes thrown his way for 86 yards.
