Jacob Eason – QB (Washington)

The Vikings don’t have to take a quarterback in the 2020 Draft, but if a solid looking prospect is sitting there for them when they are on the clock in the first couple of rounds, they should seriously think about pulling the trigger.

Kirk Cousins has been up and down so far in his year and a half stint with Minnesota. Some games he looks great and others not so much.

It’s tough to say at this point in the season whether or not the Vikings view him as their long term answer at quarterback after his three-year deal expires in 2021. In the meantime, it makes sense for Minnesota to have a potential heir on the roster that they can begin to groom as the future starter, if they do indeed, cut bait with Cousins after year three.

There is a lot to like about Jacob Eason. First of all his size sticks out, measuring in at 6-foot-5 and 235 pounds. He has a strong arm and he is very accurate with the football.

He isn’t a scrambler, but he has good pocket mobility and he will stand tall when the protection around him begins to crumble. Eason does take the majority of his snaps out of the shotgun so he’ll need some work going under center, but he’s got a lot going for him.

It is always tough to project in November where quarterback prospects will go. Some tend to rise way up the board as the draft season unfolds and then others fall as scouts and coaches get more familiar with these prospects and their weaknesses.

That being said, if the Vikings find a young quarterback with the qualities that Eason possesses when they are on the clock in the second round, they should definitely pounce.
