Rosen’s talent and potential

Josh Rosen has been labeled a bust by some already. Sure, his talent has not been on full display, but that is not entirely his fault.

Rosen’s 3-13 record as a starter can be attributed to poor talent around him and a tanking effort for the ages. He has shown some incredible flashes in his limited action, but he has not had much success.

What stands out is his ability to throw the ball down the field. His deep accuracy, especially down the sideline, is excellent given his lack of consistent playing time.

The touch on this throw is a good sign and an indication of the talent Rosen posessess.

This next throw shows his ability to drop the ball in the bucket of his target despite great coverage from the defensive back.

He does it again on this last play. His confidence in the pocket and in himself stand out.

Rosen was considered by many to be a sure-fire NFL starting quarterback when he declared for the draft in 2018. However, the NFL has presented more challenges than Rosen could have imagined.

The challenges of playing in the league were quick and abundant, making his adjustment to the NFL difficult. Add in the fact that his coaches do not give him a chance to succeed or offer him any stability and you have a recipe for disaster.

Rosen was named the starter for the Cardinals last year in Week 4 and he started under center for the rest of the season. This year, he was named the Dolphins’ starter in Week 3 this before losing the job just two weeks later.

I am still a believer in Rosen and I think he has the talent to succeed in the NFL. His situations have been far from favorable up to this point and the Vikings should strongly consider trading for him this offseason to groom him for the future.
