Running Back

Adrian Peterson

This was another obvious choice as Adrian Peterson is one of the greatest running backs not only in Vikings history but in NFL history as well. On the field, Peterson has to be regarded as one of the most exciting Vikings of all-time and even though he got off to a great start in the 2000s, he took it to another level as he entered this decade.

From 2010-16, Peterson tore up opposing defenses, rushing for 7,263 yards and 57 touchdowns across 77 games. Part of that stretch included his 2012 season, where he ran for 2,097 yards and 12 touchdowns coming off a torn ACL suffered in December of 2011, which in turn earned his first and only MVP award.

For all the on the field success, Peterson had plenty of issues off the field including a child abuse incident in 2014 that limited him to just one game and a nasty divorce after the 2016 season. Still, Peterson remains one of the greatest players in Vikings history and one that definitely paved the way for the Vikings during the early part of the decade.
