Offensive Line

The Vikings’ offensive line has been extremely inconsistent all season long. Some games, it looks much improved over the 2018 disaster, while other times it looks even worse.

The unit has been better opening up holes in the run game than it has in protecting Kirk Cousins. The biggest offenders have been Pat Elflein at left guard, Garrett Bradbury at center, and Riley Reiff at left tackle. Minnesota isn’t going to give up on Bradbury after one year, but they will need to get him to hit their strength program hard in the upcoming offseason.

The areas on the line the Vikings could look to address in the 2020 draft would be at guard and tackle. Minnesota would love to land the heir apparent to Reiff in this draft.

The problem is, while the class has some talent at the top, it looks unlikely that a prospect worth a first-round pick will be available in the 20s when the Vikings will be making their selection. So Minnesota may need to use a Day 2 pick on the position and hope they find the next Brian O’Neill.

Guard is an area the Vikings could address early. However, it is possible that they already have the answer to their problems on the roster in Dru Samia. He’s huge, moves well, and he actually had a solid game when he played against the Bears in Minnesota’s regular-season finale.

A player the Vikings could look at early in the draft would be Wisconsin’s Tyler Biadasz. He’s a big, physical blocker who played center in college, but he could be looked to replace Elflein at left guard. Expect Minnesota to draft in a lineman or two in 2020.
